English and Maths still dominate the early and final weeks, with optional subjects distributed in between. Results day this year is Thursday 21st August.<\/p><h2>No Major Format Changes (But Higher Expectations)<\/h2><p class=\"\" data-start=\"2788\" data-end=\"3085\">While there are no structural changes to the exam format this year, feedback from 2024 has led to <em data-start=\"2886\" data-end=\"2949\">increased emphasis on applied knowledge and critical thinking<\/em> in subjects like Science, History and English Literature. Students are expected to show deeper understanding \u2014 not just memorisation.<\/p><h2>Grade Boundaries and Expectations<\/h2><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3135\" data-end=\"3397\">Ofqual has stated it will continue with a \u201creturn to pre-pandemic standards.\u201d This means fewer generous grade boundaries than students saw in 2020\u201322. Parents should prepare for results to reflect these tighter expectations \u2014 not necessarily a drop in ability.<\/p><h2>Exam Stress is Peaking<\/h2><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3436\" data-end=\"3637\">Reports from schools and students suggest anxiety levels are high this year. The mental toll is significant, and parents should be aware of signs of burnout: sleep problems, withdrawal, irritability.<\/p><h2>What Parents Can Do Right Now<\/h2><ul><li class=\"\" data-start=\"3683\" data-end=\"3734\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3685\" data-end=\"3734\">Encourage open conversation. Ask, don\u2019t assume.<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"3735\" data-end=\"3821\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3737\" data-end=\"3821\">Don\u2019t overemphasise outcomes \u2014 talk about effort, progress, and coping strategies.<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"3822\" data-end=\"3920\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3824\" data-end=\"3920\">Provide structure and boundaries \u2014 it\u2019s easier to revise when the rest of life is predictable.<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"3921\" data-end=\"4010\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"3923\" data-end=\"4010\">Offer practical support: help plan revision slots, organise transport, prepare meals.<\/p><\/li><li class=\"\" data-start=\"4011\" data-end=\"4114\"><p class=\"\" data-start=\"4013\" data-end=\"4114\">If needed, bring in outside help. Even short-term tutoring can reduce anxiety and increase clarity.<\/p><\/li><\/ul><h2 data-start=\"4116\" data-end=\"4140\"><strong data-start=\"4121\" data-end=\"4138\">Final Thought<\/strong><\/h2><p class=\"\" data-start=\"4141\" data-end=\"4386\">GCSEs matter, but they don\u2019t define a student\u2019s worth.
